The Guide

The Club is exceeding all Government guidelines and the Club will re-open to all Members and Guests on Saturday 4th July at noon.  Please click here to read the Letter from the Chairman, dated 23rd June.   There will be new ways of working for the Staff Team and a modified style of using the Club for Members and Guests.  Please find the key points below:
 
Members, Visitors, Staff and Contractors must not visit the Club if they have had Coronavirus symptoms in the previous seven days.  If any member of their household shows symptoms, they must not visit the Club for fourteen days.
 
The Club will have strict occupancy limits to ensure that it complies with Government Social Distancing policies.  Therefore, Members should make reservations in advance where possible by contacting reservations@orientalclub.org.uk

The Members’ Bar, Main Dining Room and Small Drawing Room: Jacket and tie and tailored trousers for gentlemen and equivalent smart formal dress for ladies is required.

The Calcutta Light Horse Bar, Terrace, Main Drawing Room, Smoking Rooms, Business Room and Billiards Room: Smart-casual clothing is permissible.*

The only exceptions to the dress code are:

  1. When taking breakfast in the Main Dining Room smart-casual clothing is permissible.*
  2. Throughout the Club on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holiday Mondays, smart-casual clothing is permissible.*
  3. In the Summer months, the Club Secretary will give notice that Planters Orders are in place for the formal areas when a jacket may be removed provided a long sleeved shirt and tie are worn.

*Subject to these guidance notes on smart-casual attire:

Tailored and buttoned long or short-sleeved open-neck shirts and tailored trousers including chinos. Long or short-sleeved pullovers are acceptable provided they are worn over a collared shirt. Roll-neck sweaters are also acceptable. Shirts must be tucked in at all times.

Certain casual wear is not appropriate to be worn in the Club at any time including: jeans and any denim type material, t-shirts, shorts and leggings, training shoes, flip flops and similar footwear.

Accommodation

The Club offers accommodation, from single rooms to luxury suites. All rooms have en-suite facilities and are equipped with televisions, tea and coffee making facilities, hair dryers, toiletries and complimentary mineral water. Early morning wake-up calls may be requested through the Front Desk.

A simple Room Service offer will be available from Breakfast through to early evenings for Residents staying in bedrooms in line with current Government Guidelines..

There is a laundry and dry cleaning service from Monday to Friday.

Members' Bar

The Bar is open on for pre lunch and pre dinner service on Tuesday, Wednesdays and Thursdays.  At other times it will function as an additional sitting / reading space.

Calcutta Light Horse Bar and Courtyard

The CLH and Courtyard will be open Monday to Sunday for Breakfast, and from Monday to Saturday for All-Day Dining (12.00 pm to 3.00 pm and 4.00 pm to 9.00 pm).  There will be a 10% discount on all food orders between 2.00 pm and 7.00 pm).  Breakfast must be pre-ordered the night before, as Buffets will not be provided and there will be fewer tables in the CLH Bar.

Dining Room

The Dining Room will be open for Lunch and Dinner on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays for the time being.  The ‘Monday Wine’ Offer will be available each day throughout the Club until further notice.

Business Room 

Additional facilities including Plug and Play LCD Monitors for connecting your own Laptops and High Speed LAN, for a high-quality business user experience.

Board Room

Video Conference Hub (Fully Equipped Plug and Play) for up to six persons who are physically present.

Main Smoking Room

Video Conference Hub (Fully Equipped Plug and Play) for up to sixteen persons physically present.

Small Smoking Room

Leisure or Business use, or as a break-out facility for the Main Smoking Room.

Main Drawing Room

Dedicated Business Lounge with Power Points and Social Distancing Screening – capacity up to sixteen persons on individual tables – Monday to Friday 7.00 am to 6.00 pm; Evenings and Weekends Social Use Only.  Occasional Evening and Weekend Private Dining for up to sixteen persons.

Small Drawing Room

Dedicated to Social and Leisure use – no Business permitted. Formal Dress Code Monday to Friday. 

'Home Working' Offices

Subject to availability, Bedrooms with Desks may be hired for Day Use for Members wishing to work or hold private appointments at the Club.

Electronic Devices and Papers

Members may use personal electronic devices, including tablets, throughout the Club provided they are switched to silent or mute and are not spoken into. Brief-cases, brief-case sized bags and larger, the consultation of business papers and the use of laptops should be confined to the Main Drawing Room, Main Smoking Room, Boardroom, Business Room and the Terrace only. Telephone calls may only be made or received in the Main Drawing Room, Main Smoking Room, Small Smoking Room, Boardroom, and Business Room and in the Shelter at the West end of the Courtyard, away from the Terrace.

Smoking

Smoking and the use of Electronic Cigarettes is permitted in the Courtyard only and in no other part of the Club, including bedrooms.
