The Members’ Bar, Main Dining Room, Main Drawing Room and Small Smoking Room: Jacket and tie and tailored trousers for gentlemen and equivalent smart formal dress for ladies is required.

The Calcutta Light Horse Bar, Terrace, Small Drawing Room, Main Smoking Room, Business Room and Billiards Room: Smart-casual clothing is permissible.*

The only exceptions to the dress code are:

  1. When taking breakfast in the Main Dining Room smart-casual clothing is permissible.*
  2. Throughout the Club on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holiday Mondays, smart-casual clothing is permissible.*
  3. In the Summer months, the Club Secretary will give notice that Planters Orders are in place for the formal areas when a jacket may be removed provided a long sleeved shirt and tie are worn.

*Subject to these guidance notes on smart-casual attire:

Tailored and buttoned long or short-sleeved open-neck shirts and tailored trousers including chinos. Long or short-sleeved pullovers are acceptable provided they are worn over a collared shirt. Roll-neck sweaters are also acceptable. Shirts must be tucked in at all times.

Certain casual wear is not appropriate to be worn in the Club at any time including: jeans and any denim type material, t-shirts, shorts and leggings, training shoes, flip flops and similar footwear.

Accommodation

The Club offers accommodation, from single rooms to luxury suites. All rooms have en-suite facilities and are equipped with televisions, tea and coffee making facilities, hair dryers, toiletries and complimentary mineral water. Early morning wake-up calls may be requested through the Front Desk and morning tea and coffee are available as follows:

Weekdays: 6.00am – 9.30am
Weekends: 7.00am – 10.00am

There is a laundry and dry cleaning service from Monday to Friday.

Members' Bar

The Bar is open on weekdays from 11.30am until 9.30pm.

Calcutta Light Horse Bar

Open weekdays from 11.30am until midnight. Serving food from 12.30pm until 9.00pm, with a late night menu until 11.00pm.

Open Saturdays from 11.30am until 10.00pm. Serving food from 12.30pm - 3.30pm and
5.30pm - 9.00pm.

Dining Room

Breakfast
Weekdays: 7.00am – 10.00am

Weekends: 8.00am – 10.30am

A selection of complimentary daily newspapers and access to online newspapers is available.

Lunch
Weekdays: 12.30pm – 2.30pm

Dinner
Weekdays: 7.00pm – 9.30pm

A regularly changing Club Menu is available for Lunch and Dinner, with two courses for under £18. Please refer to the website for the current menu.

Drawing Rooms

The First Floor Drawing Rooms are available for Members’ use at all times. Occasionally up to three of the Drawing Rooms may be reserved for Club events or private functions. The Lounge Bar Menu is served from Monday to Friday from 11.00am until 9.30pm in any of the first floor Drawing Rooms, the Business Rooms or the Billiards Room and includes a wide selection of sandwiches, soup and cakes. Drinks and sandwiches are available every day from 10.00am until 8.00pm as are tea, coffee and a selection of wines, beers and spirits.  A selection of complimentary newspapers and magazines is provided, along with access to online publications. An Honesty Bar is available in the Billiards Room.

Business Facilities

The First Floor Business Room is available for Members’ use at all times. Three iMacs with internet connection are provided alongside three laptop stations and a printer. The Boardroom is available for business use or simply as a quiet room. It may be reserved for exclusive use for a modest charge. There is complimentary high speed and secure Wi-Fi throughout the Club, including all bedrooms. The Small Drawing Room and the Main Smoking Room may be used for business purposes and meetings for up to four persons. Papers, laptops as well as mobile phones are permitted. There are coffee machines available for Members' convenience in the Small Drawing Room and the Main Drawing Room.

Electronic Devices and Papers

Members may use personal electronic devices, including tablets, throughout the Club provided they are switched to silent or mute and are not spoken into. Brief-cases, brief-case sized bags and larger, the consultation of business papers and the use of laptops should be confined to the Small Drawing Room, Main Smoking Room, Boardroom, Business Room and the Terrace only. Telephone calls may only be made or received in the Small Drawing Room, Main Smoking Room, Small Smoking Room, Boardroom, and Business Room and in the Shelter at the West end of the Courtyard, away from the Terrace.

Terrace

The Calcutta Light Horse Bar Menu is served on the Terrace from 12.30pm until 9.00pm on weekdays and from 12.30pm - 3.30pm and 5.30pm - 9.00pm on Saturdays. 

Billiards Room

The Billiards Room is available for Members to use every day. There is an Honesty Bar for Members’ convenience.

Private Dining and Events

The Club has several function rooms available for Members’ events. If Members would like to discuss their requirements, the Private Dining team can be contacted by telephoning +44 (0) 20 7318 7355 or by email at functions@orientalclub.org.uk.

Smoking

Smoking and the use of Electronic Cigarettes is permitted in the Courtyard only and in no other part of the Club, including bedrooms.
